New educationally-driven advanced training modules and case studies for Medaphor's ScanTrainer virtual reality ultrasound training system were launched to widespread acclaim at the recent ISUOG Annual Congress in Los Angeles.
In addition to the previous Core Skills modules, the system now includes Advanced Skills modules for teaching a range of advanced pathology-related scanning skills, and Differential Diagnosis Case Studies which use multiple-pathology cases to develop diagnostic skills. A Scan Library is also being developed to help teach image interpetation skills.
The new case studies and learning modules extend the use of the system within a blended learning programme.
"Our key objective remains to provide a comprehensive educationally-driven training system which relieves the pressure on service delivery by allowing trainees to learn in their own time" explains Nick Sleep, Head of Software Development at Medaphor. "The Core Skills modules have proved highly effective, and we now want to expand the range of advanced pathology-related modules and interpretative case studies so that ScanTrainer provides an extended learning experience for more advanced trainees as well."
